For more than 50 years, this family-owned business – formerly Amairitek – has brought affordable, specialty, coating solutions to Colorado. Our name has changed to Colorado Coating Pros and we continue to be the experts in protecting and preserving industrial and commercial surfaces.

The quality, dependability, and professionalism you’ve come to count on remains the same. We look forward to continuing to build our relationship with you both personally, and now, through our quarterly email, with content to keep you informed about projects we’re working on, tips on keeping your coatings in great shape, and ways we can help. Email us if you’d like to get on our list.

In our inaugural blog, we’ve provided some examples of the work we do. Our objectives are to extend the life of your equipment, protect it, and keep it operating optimally.

300,000-Gallon Aboveground Water Tank in Southeast Colorado
This water tank was inspected and found to have signs of rust – an indication that the old coating was no longer providing adequate protection for the steel. The coating methodology we chose was based on the amount of deterioration and the customer’s budget. We pressure washed the loose paint off, put down a primer, and then applied a topcoat with a sprayer. Without these wise, preventive measures, even the thick steel of this tank would eventually have rusted through. Patching tanks can be very expensive and disruptive to service. A timely inspection and follow-through kept the water flowing for the community and surrounding farmsteads that depend on it.

Underground Water Tank Near Colorado Springs
We also work on underground tanks and were recently contacted by a water district northeast of Colorado Springs for help. The coating of the exposed concrete lids of two underground, water supply tanks had started to deteriorate, making the concrete vulnerable to damage. A sandblaster and other tools were required to remove all the old coating. Next, a coat of primer was applied, then two coats of a silicone-based coating, using both spraying and rolling techniques. Underground tanks are becoming very common – they are affordable to build, not as vulnerable to certain types of weather, and are typically less disruptive to the landscape and views than aboveground tanks.

Metal Awning
From underground we went well above ground to paint a large awning and its framework, which will be covering the stage of a well-known rock band. It is soon to be loaded on semis and hit the road with the band for their upcoming tour. We were commissioned by the company who built the stage. Used on a previous tour, the awning was silver – now it was to be red. A challenge we faced was getting an exact match with the customer’s tint-based paint specification, which we were able to do. Applied with a sprayer, this intense pigment was a bubblegum color going on but dried to a fire engine red. We can tell you, this awning will protect the stage and the band, which will “gather no moss!”

We hope you’ve enjoyed getting a peek at what we do. We serve all types of commercial and industrial companies as well as municipalities, utilities, and water and waste-water facilities.
